soft, putrid underbelly of religion, politics, advertising, and suburbia is exposed.
Experience the sheer genius of these culture-jamming crusaders as they tape-splice a
gazillion random voice and sound samples into a frenzy of narrative to soothe hearts
and minds of those who refuse to sleepwalk in America.
July 20: TOP 88 OF '88 with Jonny G. & Fresh Smith. A gallon of gas cost $1. The
Berlin Wall still stood. We still hadn't had the pleasure of any Presidents
Bush. Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars were only fashionable if you were
anti-fashion. And we had cassingles. Twenty years later, Jonny G. and Fresh
Smith take you on a whirlwind tour of the Top 88 songs of 1988. We mean the cool
ones.
July 27: VOLCANO THE BEAR: Folk music from lands that never were. Eerie soundtracks
to imaginary films. Mutated instruments, left-field structures, epic drones and
minimal tape experiments. Join MMMiguel for a timeless soup of sound that is
unmistakably Volcano The Bear and no one else.
Aug 3: "WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC: Everyone is a fan, even if you don't know it yet! With
hilarious parodies and sickeningly ingenious original hits, join this week's
spotlight as we laugh along with nearly 30 years of comic relief from "Weird Al"
Yankovic. Produced and hosted by Joe Kurpinsky.
Aug 10: POSTPUNK: '78 - '84: Join dj PUSH and Mehdi as they sift through punk's
explosive ashes to focus on the glowing embers of its abrupt demise that both became
POSTPUNK and continued the un-finished revolution of its predecessor with a new
wave of alternative music independence.
Aug 17: POMO LITERATI: The Pomo Literati presents poetry, story, and spoken word
soundscapes and wordscapes, works from Fari & The Germ. We go live with David
Houston w/strings, Tom Mix w/ poetic blues licks, Poet/editor Doreen Domb. Classic

Aug 24: FURY IN THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE has been one of the most successful German
bands. After 20 years, they called it quits this year. In this spotlight Arndt from
Radio Goethe takes a closer look at this band from Hannover that combinded Rock
with Folk, Gothic and Pop.
Aug 31: FRANCO FUN Special Edition - You can never get enough French music.
Francofun is on every Saturday now, but DJ Fari just can stop bringing you the best
new music from the Francophone communities across the world, focusing on music from
Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec, the other French music.
Sep 7: Who's got beef with CAPTAIN BEEFHEART? If you don't like beef, then you've
got beef with beef, and you don't know what you're missing. DJ Nobody feeds you the
juiciest cutlets of Captain Beefheart's magic band in their prime. The following is
ensured in this spotlight: neon meaty dreams of the rawest of beefs-the Captain
himself.
Sep 14: THE GREAT POP TRAGEDY with DJ Schmeejay and Little Tea. Sure, Pop songs can
be full of happy, fun loving times - but not these. From dead dogs and horses to
cars with your beloved stuck in the tracks of an oncoming train - these memorable
tunes will have you humming along and maybe even shedding a musical tear or two.
Sep 21: SLY AND ROBBIE: Drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare are the
riddim in reggae. Together they have played on or produced over 200,000 songs that
have defined the sound of reggae and beyond. Spliff up and join Office Mike for an
irie tribute to this legendary duo.
Sep 28: Join Nicole G and friends for two hours of not-so-typical ANGRY CHICKS! For
