KUSF Community Crusade

THE KUSF COMMUNITY CRUSADE offers community organizations support through daily, on-air public service announcements (PSAs).

NOVEMBER 2002 :
  • San Francisco City Carshare
  • San Francisco Bicycle Coalition

This November, KUSF's Community Crusade spotlights San Francisco City Carshare. City Carshare is a non-profit organization that provides an affordable, easy-to-use alternative for people who sometimes need to use a car but don't want to own one. Car-sharing provides a way to dramatically reduce the number of cars clogging San Francisco's streets while supporting a shift away from our over-dependence on automobiles. Carshare members have the security of knowing that they can run errands that require a car, but don't have to deal with the stress of being locked into owning and maintaining one. It works like a time-share car rental that allows you to use it when you need it, and only pay based on how much you drive. Get out of your car and into City Carshare by calling (415) 995-8588 or visiting www.citycarshare.org.

This November, KUSF's Community Crusade spotlights the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. The Bicycle Coalition is an alliance of thousands of people who ride bikes and want to encourage more two-wheeled friends to join them on the road. Over the past three years, the Bicycle Coalition has succeed in getting new bike lanes added to Valencia, Polk, Arguello, Folsom, Fulton, Post, and 14th Streets. They've also organized and gotten new laws passed to require bike racks in all parking garages and bike parking in all new buildings. These big victories for a bike-friendly San Francisco have only been possible because of strong support from thousands of Bicycle Coalition members and volunteers. Become one. Call 431-BIKE or visit www.sfbike.org to find out how.
